Verpon was a former Toa Naryk of Fire and is now a mutant Shadows of the Sword Operative.

Biography

Verpon protected the village of Nurane Nui since he was Matoran as one of the leaders of the Matoran Guard. When Verpon was called to a meeting with his fellow leaders, and the future Toa Naryk, by Rokar to discuss better defence for the island. They then discovered a small cache of Toa Stones hidden in the Nurane Nui Fortress and became Toa soon after and Rokar was placed in the position of Team Leader.

They defended the Matoran from many threats ranging from wild Rahi to Dark Hunters for some time until unfortunately, they began to drift apart. Verpon was the only Toa Naryk that attempted to keep the group together. After Artok and Zarik, convinced that they had achieved their destiny, decided to relinquished their powers and become Turaga, Rokar left on a mission where fate would have him meet two fellow Toa, Toa Tamek and Vakarian and convinced him to join the Shadows of the Sword. With originally benelovent intentions, Rokar returned home to gather the remaining members of his team to convince them to join the mysterious organisation. While Verpon was reluctant to join due to his belief that an organisation that managed to keep itself hidden so well while planning universal domination was bound to detect any hints of betrayal. However, in the end he decided to join to aid his brothers, happy just to remain united.

Unfortunatly, Verpon grew impatient with his brothers who seemed to lose interest in the orginal plan striking down the "The Sword", and made a pact with two Rakile to take the life of the mysterious Skakdi. While they killed several guards, Verpon's fellow conspirators were trapped in a room by the trickery of Rokar and Vakarian's illusions. Verpon then proceeded to defeat the Toa of Moonglow and ordered his brother to either aid him or stand down. Rokar refused and Verpon knocked him out and continued into the throne room were he was confronted with Toa Tamek who swiftly defeated him.

"The Sword" decided that instead of being killed, Verpon and his Rakile allies were still useful to the organisation and had Verpon mutated into a hideous serpent-like being, to stop him from fleeing the Shadows of the Sword and to use him as an example to others who may have wanted to rebel.
